I am adding a little class this fall, exploring many of the lost arts of Godly womanhood. The course-The Hope Chest Journey: A Call to Beauty and Grace course, for young ladies 11 years old and older. For more information check the tab above.

This class is co-sponsored by Moor House Academy and The Princess Academies. An information meeting will be announced as a post on this site.

Most classes are held in Orem, Utah. I am located within a few blocks of I-15 and the Orem Center Street exit. My home has a beautiful view of Utah Lake to the west and Mt.Timpanogas to the North.

Some classes may be held at other locations including outside. The class posting will always designate in what city the class will be hosted.

Foundations I - Supplies List for Drawing

Drawing Supplies:

A Clip Board to use as a smooth drawing surface

Copier Paper - a ream ( a ream is 500 sheets)

Papermate "Flair" felt tip- available in singles from BYU bookstore for 1.79 each

Watercolor pencils or permanent ink felt tips. If you use felt tips, different tip widths are great.

Materials transport and storing:

A bag to carry supplies in.

A box for drawing tools. Pringles cans work wonderful.

A folder, expandable file, or 3 ring binder (with sheet protectors) to protect and store drawing papers in.

Materials Needed Later:

Sketch Book 65lb Acid Free 5.5" x 8.5" or larger. Chanson makes a decent one. Michael's and Roberts Craft Stores often have sales.

What if you do not have the time to take a 2.5 hour class every week but want to learn to draw? Perhaps you would like to learn about fine crafts, provident living, or creating a frugal luxury? We will offer a Drawing basics class and single evening project workshops running 1-3 hours, depending on the project. Projects will be posted on this site, along with class information. Drawing Basics- Anyone who can sign their name can learn to draw. This five week beginning drawing class meets after school and is 1.5 hours.

These are classes in creating apparel and bling to fit our busy active lifestyles. Aprons, Skirts, Vests, accessories, and more

What is a Provident Comforts?

To be provident is to be careful, frugal, and thrifty. The Provident Comforts class is a class designed to re-purpose something old or second hand to a new life. This would be a class where we restore, refinish and/or embellish. This also includes do-it-yourself (DIY) Folk and Find Crafts: Sandblasting, Stained glass, Mosaics, Quilting, and more.

Gateway to Love of Learning

Art Classes

These classes are designed for children 8-12+ and those who are young at heart. Picasso said, "all children are born artists, the problem is to remain and artist when we grow up." Most children develop drawing fear by the time they are eight or nine. This class is designed to help children and adults to overcome that fear and begin using more of their right brain. Art is a gateway to love learning. You do not need to be an artist to take this class.

Foundations Level I - classes will include:

Study of great artists and their contributions, as well as, art and literature, math, and science.
The Hand and Eye- Visual Forms, Artist Tools and Artist Tao- each class building on the last
Calligraphy- Italics
Hands On! Explorations in: paper making, printmaking, garden mosaics, sandblasting and more...

Tuition:

Classes are $12.50 each week. Save 10% by paying $45 per month, in advance. Family discount- each additional family member enrolled is $10 per class.

Exhibit: We are planning an outdoor exhibit to be held in June.

Foundations Level II classes begin in April. This class will include taking our skills out doors through nature studies!

Artist and Mentor- Donna Goff

I am the art mentor for the classes.

My mother was an artist. As a preschooler I attended oil painting classes with my mother. I love the smells of linseed oil, turpentine, and oil paints. There, they gave me a full pallet, brushes, and a canvas. When I was in high school I loved to draw landscapes and still lifes. In my sophomore year of college I changed colleges and my major to fine art and design. I graduated with a BA in Fine Art and Design from BYU 1980. My experience at BYU expanded the mediums in which I drew enjoyment. Along with developing skills and learning about artists and their contributions, my professors encouraged delving into the classics. Classics are rich in symbolism and are inspiration to the artist.

Tree of Life

In 2001, my 3'x6', 1000+ piece, stained glass Tree of Life took first place in the Springville Museum's 16th Annual Spiritual and Religious Art of Utah exhibit.

Several pieces of my work was on display in an exhibit at the Covey Center in Provo, December 2008.
